Markets closed for New Year's Day

See how the holiday affects Fidelity operations.

On Monday, December 31, 2012 the bond market will close at 2 p.m. ET.

On Tuesday, January 1, 2013, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq and other markets will close in observance of New Year's Day. Bond markets will also be closed, and there will be no premarket or after-hours trading sessions. Banks and the U.S. Postal Service will be closed as well.

Here is how the holiday affects Fidelity:

Exchanges and markets

  • NYSE, Nasdaq, AMEX, and all options exchanges: Closed Tuesday
  • Directed trading: Closed Tuesday
  • Extended-hours trading: Closed Tuesday
  • International trading: All markets for countries included in our International Trading offering are closed.
    • International market and currency access: All will be queued for the next trading day.
    • General foreign equity trading: International orders (foreign ordinaries) entered through the domestic trade ticket using the five-letter pink sheet symbol will be queued for the next trading day.
  • Listed fixed income market: Closed Tuesday
  • Over-the-counter fixed income market: Closed Tuesday
